Education & Social Awareness – Godawari Jan Jagaran Yojana

Accessible quality education is one of the most crucial needs of any child today. However, as we stand at 96% enrollment of students in primary schools, the quality of education has always been questionable. The blatant commercialization and modernization of the education although propelled up the number of students attending schools but the fact is that the students turning up in the schools do not get the quality of education they deserve hence, they end up acquiring sub-standard skills.

The educational programs of VSS are based on a well-woven process of Identifying, Supporting, Developing the child with close Engagement and Supervision to ensure their overall academic and personality development. Each step in the process, empowers the child with healthy attitude, knowledge and skills required to lead a life of dignity.

In 2012, the Godawari Jan Jagaran Yojana centre in Harpurnag, Champaran was established with an aim to provide remedial education to children with learning difficulties in English, Mathematics and Science. Since then, every year the program evolved and moved beyond mere academic exchange between children and teachers.

It is addressing the needs of children who face difficulty in acquiring the optimal level of knowledge and skills which eventually hinders their academic achievement and overall personality growth. Students with weak learning aptitude are identified through the rigorous process of selection and assessment tests including pre-counseling sessions, which involve both the parents and the child.

They are further oriented about the pattern and schedule of teaching. The program also focuses on inculcating apt social and life skills among these children. Extracurricular activities, health camps, mid-day meal and regular counseling help these children with their overall physical and mental well-being.
